Using reality capture to eliminate data blind spots in complex buildings and industrial spaces.
Hou & Remoy examined how reality-capture technologies — drones, photogrammetry, and LiDAR laser scanning — solve one of FM's oldest problems: the gap between what the drawings say and what actually exists on site. In complex buildings, boiler rooms, and industrial facilities, as-built documentation is often decades out of date. Reality capture creates accurate, navigable 3D records that support lifecycle cost planning, structural health monitoring, and accurate maintenance scheduling.
